North Las Vegas Assistant City Attorney named as a top lawyer in Nevada and Volunteer of the Year

The City of North Las Vegas is pleased to announce that Assistant City Attorney Claudia Aguayo was named among the top attorneys in the state by Nevada Business Magazine.

"I am so honored to be named as one of the top lawyers in Nevada by my colleagues," Aguayo said. "Everyone in this office works toward one common goal and that is to serve the public good. This award really reflects what a great team we have here in North Las Vegas."

Now in its 14th year, Nevada Business Magazine's Legal Elite highlights Nevada’s top attorneys as chosen by their peers. Polling for the 2021 list began in February, and several thousand nominations were collected.

Aguayo has been featured in Legal Elite four times and has practiced law in Nevada for 18 years.

Additionally, Aguayo was named as one of two Volunteers of the Year by the State Bar of Nevada committee for her outstanding service as president of the Las Vegas Latino Bar Association (LBA). Aguayo was chosen for re-energizing the organization by plotting a three-year plan, including more than 25 goals, to help the LBA support its members.

Once her term of leadership ends, the LBA estimates Aguayo will have contributed more than 1,000 hours to the organization. During her presidency, Aguayo has grown the LBA’s pipeline projects, such as the ¡Ándale! 5k program that helps recipients pay for LSAT preparation courses and related LSAT fees.

She also works to create career opportunities for LBA members, promote Latino history and culture, establish outreach goals, create more benefits for LBA members, and strengthen the organization’s communications to members.
